Macy Gray Do Something

August 28th, 2008

“Do Something” is the first single from Macy Gray’s debut album On How Life Is. It was released in 1999 and samples the OutKast song “Git Up, Git Out” and the Nice & Smooth song “Funky For You”. As such it contains 17 co-writers, Gray included.

“Do Something” is Gray’s first song to hit the charts. managing to peak at 51st place on the UK Singles Chart. however it didn’t manage to get on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. It has since been used in a commercial by MTV Europe advertising 1999’s summer festivals.
